Thawing breastmilk

Heathly, full-term babies can drink breast milk at room temperature or warmed to body temperature.

You can also feed it to your baby cold or room temperature.

Use the oldest milk first. Practice first in, first out.

To thaw frozen milk, you can thaw it in the refrigerator.

Hold the frozen bottle or bag under lukewarm running water or into a cup, jug or bowl.

Bring it to body temperature. Do not goes beyond 40-55°C.

Swirl the milk gently to mix because the fatty part of the milk may have separated.

If you do warm your milk, test the milk temperature by dropping some on your wrist. It should be comfortably warm, not hot.

NEVER microwave your milk. Microwaving breaks down nutrients and creates hot spots, which can burn your baby's mouth.
